The Katie Cunningham Wave of Hope Foundation was formed in the Spring of 2026, after the loss of our beautiful Katie, who passed in July of 2025. Katie’s wife, Erin, her sister, Ellen, her cousin, Kristine, and her mom, Joyce wanted a way to honor Katie and do some good in her name. Together, with a group of devoted friends and family, they built the foundation.

The mission of the foundation is to raise money for ovarian cancer research, specifically early detection. The toughest part of an ovarian cancer diagnosis is that there are usually no symptoms until the cancer has spread. Women are usually diagnosed in the later stages, making outcomes far worse than if it had been caught early. Katie was diagnosed at stage 3C.

The foundation will also focus on causes that mattered to Katie, and will make an impact on the community she loved so deeply.
